Lotus’s Kuala Selangor, along with 16 of our other stores were unfortunately directed to close for three days from 9 to 11 May 2021 because of their placement on the government’s Hotspots Identification for Dynamic Engagement (HIDE). HIDE, first revealed in May 2021, identifies premises that could potentially become Covid-19 hotspots if no added measures were taken.
In line with our ongoing initiative to reduce food waste in our supply chain, Lotus’s Kuala Selangor Store General Manager, Shanti Dore Rajoo took it upon herself to donate milk and bakery items they were unable to sell because of the closure to the local police station for them to buka puasa with. The items were collectively worth some RM1,000.
Thank you, Shanti, for your innovativeness in not only helping your community but also in reducing food waste to landfills.
