Tesco Mergong Store General Manager, Alan Lee who is no stranger to community work in and around his store, has leaped into action following the implementation of an administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in 28 townships in the Kota Setar District, in Kedah starting 11 September 2020.
Without any hesitation, Alan provided aid not to just one, but three organizations in his community namely the Traffic Wardens, Klinik Kesihatan Bandar Alor Setar, and the Kota Setar Police Department. The traffic wardens received face masks and hand sanitizers, while essential food items with the collective amount of RM3,000 were donated to the clinic and the police department.
“We were the first retailer who provided aid to the frontlines who are struggling to get medical and essential supplies as soon as the EMCO was announced,” said Alan.
Besides Tesco, the Kedah government had also allocated RM1 million worth of food aid to Kota Setar residents to help those in need.
