For the third time since 2017, the Tesco Kampar Team extended its support to an Orang Asli (indigenous people) village located in Kampung Sungai Tiang, Gerik. The village, which is home to about 200 residents, do not have their own sundry shops and all grocery goods are to be transported via boats by either the local police or fire departments.
Sadly for the villagers, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has made getting essentials even more challenging than it already is. Knowing this, the Tesco Kampar Team collaborated with the local police to donate RM2,500 worth of food items to the villagers. On top of that, the Kampar team also reached out to a bread factory in Kuala Kangsar, Perak to bake 250 loaves of bread for the villagers.
"We would want to ensure that the most vulnerable among us will not be left out during this pandemic," said Kampar Store General Manager, Edwin Madiahlagan who helped started the initiative. "My team and I will continue to support them for the coming years," he continued.
