The Tesco Corporate Social Responsibility Team (CSR) had in early August supplied one of our adopted schools, Sekolah Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih (SBJK) with food and basic toiletries, upon finding out that the school was severely in need of them.
SBJK is unlike Tesco’s other adopted schools as it caters to street children who are mostly stateless to get a chance at education. The children here are mostly born on the streets to illegal immigrants, runways, sex workers, and drug addicts. Without proper care, the children are exposed to vice and exploitation which will eventually lead them to resort to panhandling, sex work and drug peddling,
The CSR team supplied the school with Tesco Own Brand canned sardines, toothbrush, toothpaste, body soap, and biscuits, which might not seem that much but means the world to these children who have nothing.
Please visit the Ministry of Education’s official page on the school to find out more.
