Masak Lemak “Rasa Sayang” Saleha

Saleha knows that her late grandmother’s Masak Lemak will never fail to bring her busy family together. So, she continues to make it for her loved ones.


Ingredient A

  • 5 Tesco Eat Fresh Cili Padi Merah
  • 10g Lemongrass (chopped)
  • 120g Shallots
  • 40g Garlic
  • 20g Fresh Turmeric
  • 20g Ginger


Ingredient B

  • 5 Tesco Eat Fresh Cili Padi Merah
  • 800g TESCO White Squid (cleaned & cut)
  • 15ml TESCO Canola Cooking Oil 3kg
  • 200ml Coconut Milk
  • 200ml Water
  • 1 Lemongrass (smashed)
  • 200g TESCO EAT FRESH Nanas Manis (half chopped, half cubed)
  • 100g Lychee
  • 2 tsp Tamarind Paste
  • 1.5 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Lychee Syrup
  • Salt to taste



  • Peppermint
  • Tesco Eat Fresh Red Chillies



  1. Pound Ingredients A into a paste.
  2. Heat oil in pot and sauté the paste until fragrant.
  3. Mix in coconut milk, water, smashed lemongrass and pineapple. Bring to a boil.
  4. Add in the squids and turn down the heat to medium.
  5. Add tamarind paste, lychee, sugar, lychee syrup and salt to taste. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes until the squids are cooked.
  6. Garnish and serve hot.
